The History of Chimney Sweeps Attending Weddings
The tradition of a Chimney Sweep attending your wedding for good luck can be traced back to the 1800s after a Chimney Seep saved the life of King George III. The Sweep was the only person who was brave enough to stop the King’s out of control horses and carriage. The King then proclaimed it that all sweeps are good luck bearers and should therefore all be treated with great respect.
The folk law was thereby born and to this day Chimney Sweeps are still invited to weddings, kissing the bride for good luck.
